At Aston & Cote C of E Primary School we believe all of our pupils can achieve great things when they are given opportunity, motivation and caring support. On top of the ‘Quality First Teaching’ which is the entitlement for all children at our school we also offer a range of individualised programmes and equipment to support children with SEND.

 

All the children in school get support that is specific to their individual needs at the present time. This may all be provided by the class teacher, or with support from a Teaching Assistant or may also involve:

 

  • Advice and support from the School’s Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) and other members of staff within the school.
  • Staff who visit the school from the Local Authority central services such as the Educational Psychologist, Specialist Teachers for autism, ADHD or teachers from the Sensory Service or team.
  • Staff who visit from outside agencies such as the NHS Speech and Language Therapy Service.
  • Referrals to different agencies through an Early Help Assessment (EHA).

 

Your child’s class teacher will be happy to chat with you about any concerns or queries you have and should be your first point of call but if you would like to speak to our SENCO, Miss O’Hara, then please do not hesitate to get in touch by telephone or arrange a meeting via the office (office.3120@aton-and-cote.oxon.sch.uk).  

 

All of Oxfordshire’s schools have a similar approach to meeting the needs of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities but the SEND information report below provides some details of what we do here at Aston & Cote C of E Primary School.

 

A child has SEND if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for him or her.
