  • Collective Worship

Collective Worship is at the heart of life at Aston and Cote Church of England School. It enables both pupils and adults to flourish spiritually, nurturing a sense of belonging, reflection and personal growth within our school community. Rooted in our Anglican foundation, Collective Worship reflects our Christian vision and provides meaningful opportunities for all to engage with faith, values and spirituality in an inclusive and inspiring way.

Our worship enhances and enriches individuals’ spiritual development through opportunities for stillness, reflection, prayer, storytelling, and moments of awe and wonder. These experiences encourage curiosity, deepen understanding and support pupils in exploring their own beliefs while respecting those of others.

Each week, our worship follows a thoughtful rhythm:

    • On Monday, every fortnight, Alastair Barnett from the Fellowship Centre visits to guide us through the teachings of Jesus, including his powerful “I am” statements, helping pupils reflect on their meaning and relevance in today’s world.
    • On Tuesdays, Collective Worship takes place within individual classes, where children take a leading role in planning and delivering worship, focusing on the term’s value, the school parable, or engaging in deeper thinking about questions such as “What is God?” and how God is depicted in different cultures and traditions around the world.
    • On Wednesdays, we are joined by Reverend Janice from St James’ Church, who leads us in worship and strengthens our connection with the local church community.
    • On Thursdays, our Book Worship explores world religions, global issues and celebrates diversity, fostering respect, understanding and a sense of global citizenship.
    • On Fridays, we come together to celebrate our school vision and the teachings of our chosen parable, recognising and sharing the many ways pupils have developed and used their talents both in and out of school throughout the week.

Through these varied and meaningful experiences, Collective Worship supports the spiritual flourishing of our whole school community, encouraging everyone to grow, reflect and live out our shared values each day.
