  • Attendance and Lateness

Our classes compete to win the Attendance Ted award each week. Attendance Ted is very popular!

In order for all children to achieve their full potential, they must be in school every day, on time and ready to learn. Aston and Cote place a high value on punctual and regular attendance. Every child and family in our schools will be made aware of the importance of this through regular updates, the positive promotion of good attendance, rewards for good attendance and, where necessary, discussions with families about the need to improve attendance and punctuality. We wish to foster good attendance and punctuality habits from the early years and throughout the child’s school career and into adult life.

We expect that in return parents ensure that their child attends school regularly and punctually and that holidays in term time are avoided. It is particularly important that your child is punctual; consistent lateness is detrimental to their progress and disrupts the start of the day for the class.

    Reporting your child’s absence

If your child is ill, then the school office should be notified before 9.00am. In order to ensure that children are safe, the school will always contact a parent if we have not received a notification of their child’s absence, either by phone or in person by the time that registers close, which is 30 minutes after the start of the school day.
