Garrett (Year 4)

Welcome to Garrett Class!

Class Teacher: Mr Foster

 Classroom Assistant: Mrs Woolard

In Garrett Class, we aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum that is stimulating and challenging. We support children in developing the knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to enable them to enjoy learning and flourish as unique individuals. Our aim is to help children grow their talents in all areas of the curriculum and reach their full potential.

Our Learning Journey

This term, our topic is 'Home, sweet Witney'.  We will begin by exploring our local area, including the important events and changes that have taken place in Witney. We will also be examining its rich industrial heritage and the changes in diversity and land use.

This term we will be reading the text, 'Tiger, Tiger'. Our writing journey will provide us with the opportunity to write character descriptions, balanced arguments, narratives and to more deeply embed our understanding of grammar and punctuation.

In maths, we will be solidifying our understanding of the four operations and maths reasoning and fluency with work on statistics, shape, position and direction and negative numbers.

Our science learning, will see us exploring animals (including humans) and how and why we classify them. We will also look at habitats and issues affecting them, such as climate change, deforestation and pollution.

In our DT topic we will be working with fabric and textiles to make a 3-D storage pouch for stationary, examining cutting and drawing techniques.

Our RE focus is Hinduism and the practices and worship therein, as well as comparing beliefs and ideas within Hinduism and other faiths.
