Welcome to Fletcher Class!

A very warm welcome to all our Year 2 families! We are delighted to have you as part of the Fletcher Class family and are looking forward to an exciting year of learning, laughter and new adventures together.

Year 2 is a special year as the children become increasingly independent, curious and confident learners. We have lots of exciting opportunities planned and can’t wait to see the children grow, discover new interests and achieve their goals.

We believe that working together with families is an important part of helping every child thrive, so please do keep in touch and share in your child’s learning journey.

Mrs Perry works with the children on Monday, Tuesday and then again on a Wednesday afternoon, while Mrs East is in class on Wednesday morning along with Thursdays and Fridays. 

We hope this page will give you a helpful glimpse into life in Fletcher Class, with updates, useful information and some of the exciting things we have been learning about.

Our Learning Journey:

Term 1

🇬🇧 Our United Kingdom Adventure!

This term, we’re going on an exciting journey around the United Kingdom! We’ll discover the four countries that make up the UK – England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland – and find out what makes each one special.

We’ll explore maps and flags, learn about the capital cities and discover some of the traditions, landmarks, foods and special features that make each country unique. We’ll even become little food explorers as we discover some traditional national dishes!

Back in the classroom, we’ll be putting our cooking skills to the test as we prepare and enjoy a delicious traditional cottage pie. We’ll also be getting creative, curious and hands-on as we learn about the wonderful places and people that make up our United Kingdom.

In English, our adventures will take us to the streets of London, where we’ll meet some rather naughty buses and discover the magical story of the lion statues in Trafalgar Square. There will be plenty of opportunities for storytelling, imagination and creative writing along the way!
