In our school we always think of how we can serve and help others. Older pupils are playground leaders and buddies for younger pupils and our School council meet every term and decide which charities we will support for the year ahead.

Some of our year 6 pupils are chosen, on a rota basis, to join some of the villagers at the local church for lunch. They help to serve the soup, teas and fruit. The pupils really enjoy this experience; they enjoy helping others and get to meet elderly people from the local community and reflect upon the needs of others.

Some examples of Charities we have supported in the past include:

  • Poppy sales
  • Red, white and/or blue day and we had a range of exciting visitors who talked to us about their work and the charity itself.
  • The children made boxes for other children around the world less fortunate than us. Our friends at the Fellowship centre collected these to be distributed. Thank you everyone for your generous contributions
  • Copper collections for Children in Need, Guid Dogs for the Blind (we raised enough to sponsor a new guide dog! Representatives from the Guide Dogs visited us in January when we presented  them with our cheque) and in response to the floods in Nepal.
  • Comic Relief
  • Silly Socks Day for The Leys
