In our school we always think of how we can serve and help others. Older pupils are playground leaders and buddies for younger pupils and our School Council meet every term and decide which charities we will support for the year ahead.

Some of our Year 6 pupils are chosen, on a rota basis, to join some of the villagers at the local church for lunch. They help to serve the soup, teas and fruit. The pupils really enjoy this experience; they enjoy helping others and get to meet elderly people from the local community and reflect upon the needs of others.

Some examples of charities we have supported in the past include:

  • Besom - local charity supporting families in need
  • Royal British Legion - we sell a range of merchandise to celebrate Remembrance Day.
  • Red, White and Blue Day - we had a range of exciting visitors who talked to us about their work and the charity itself.
  • Samaritan's Purse - we made Christmas gift boxes for other children around the world less fortunate than us. Our friends at St James' church collected these to be distributed.
  • Copper coin collections for Children in Need and Guide Dogs for the Blind - we raised enough to sponsor a new guide dog!
  • Comic Relief
  • Silly Socks Day for The Leys
